Welcome...

So...does the band in our banner image look familiar?  While almost every West Coast band of note performed at Pandora's Box during the 1960's, many, many local groups--both those that recorded and those that didn't--also grabbed the spotlight.  We haven't been able to identify the combo in question, but we're trying.

Domenic Priore, author of Riot On Sunset Strip, has identified several little-known groups that played at Pandora's Box, including The Banned, The Ants, Us, The King Bees and World War III.  Could the photo be of one of these acts?  Or one of the other hundreds of bands that no doubt took to the stage?

Jeff Briskin, member of The Sloths and The May Wines, informed us that, "The Sloths were there (Pandora's Box) in the early days and The May Wines were there in the later days.  We saw the landscape of the Sunset Strip change.  The early days the patrons were the coffee house type of patrons; later on the so called 'Flower Children' and 'Hippies' were the patrons.  It was quite a time and very interesting."  We hope to be able to share more memories from Jeff--and other band members that performed there--in the coming weeks and months...
